Her story will inspire you. When she was 7 years old, Carmelina and her parents arrived in the States fleeing the war in Guatemala. They became migrant seasonal workers, picking fruits and vegetables in the fields. Later, Carmelina graduated from high school then in 2002 was discovered by Berlitz and became an interpreter for EOIR. In this episode we talk with her about the nuances of Mayan and Indigenous languages.
